Sally is a dynamic senior manager with extensive strategic, operational and project management experience within the Leisure sector. She has worked in Leisure Sport and Physical Activity industry for 28 years, mainly in Local Government, and is now Chief Executive Officer of the Torfaen Leisure Trust.
She is passionate about helping people to be active and lead healthy lives, and to this end one of the key aims of the Trust is to increase participation in physical activity and sport. Sally was the Chair of the CIMSPA (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) Wales Board. Sally led the development and delivery of the Local Authority Partnership Agreement (LAPA), funded by Sports Wales. She worked with a range of partners to shape the strategic direction and develop a range of activity programmes to increase regular and sustainable participation in sport and physical activity to contribute to health improvement. Sally is a member of the Chief Culture and Leisure Officers Wales (CCLOW) Group, and is a member of the Active Gwent CCLOW collaborative group responsible for the strategic management of the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative sport and physical activity programmes across Gwent.
Sally holds an MBA from the University of Glamorgan. A competent strategist capable of developing innovative plans and activities designed to facilitate competitive growth and competitive superiority. Possesses excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, has the ability to take and influence decisions and to develop positive relationships both internally and externally. Enjoys leading, being part of, as well as, motivating, training and developing, a successful and productive team and thrives in highly pressurised and challenging working environments.
